Yarn

Original yarn used: Hebridean chunky wool less than 1 skein knitted on 6mm (US10) needles.

You can substitute any similar yarn recommended to be knitted on 6mm (US10).

Needles

One pair 6mm (US10) needles

Knitted as one rectangular piece

Using 6mm (US 10) needles and leaving a long tail (about 16”) for sewing up, cast on 32sts loosely.

Break your yarn in half a little way down your tail and tie it in a knot with frayed ends. As you knit, randomly break the yarn, tie the two ends together and knit them so they sit on the right side of your work. It is a joy to break and tie yarn this way in a random fashion and it looks so wonderfully textural as a finish. This is how I achieved the frayed ends effect in the photo. You might prefer to not use my tied, knotted and frayed effect with the wool you’re using for your neck cuff.
